::::: Biography
____________________________
Born in Devonport, Sam grew up on the North Coast of Tasmania. After finishing school, Sam moved to a farm near Wangaratta.
After working as a wool classer, station hand and many other jobs throughout Australia, he finally decided to follow his ambition:
in 2003 he started a diploma in silver-smithing and jewellery design, which he successfully completed in 2004.
From small things, big things grew: the jewellery design evolved into Sam becoming a sculptor.
He is now a full-time sculptor and exhibits regularly at Muse Gallery in Milawa.
He won the Gardeners Choice Award at the 2008 Wangaratta Current Sculpture Biennial - his first sculpture competition.

___________________________
My work has evolved from the availability of materials at hand, e.g. old and abandoned farm equipment, and recycled materials.
With my sculptures, I hope to make people more aware of the gradual changes that not only affect us, but many other living things.
By making animal sculptures, maybe people will be moved and thus try to do their bit, no matter how big or small.
I love working with old machinery, as you never quite know what your next animal will be!
